How Invisalign Treatment Works
Invisalign consists of a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners that gradually shift your teeth into their desired position. They’re a popular option for adults and teens alike as they are discreet and comfortable and allow you to continue to brush and floss with ease.
Initial Consultation
Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation with our Aurora family dentist, who will examine your teeth, discuss your goals, and determine if Invisalign is the right orthodontic treatment for you.
Digital Impressions and Treatment Plan
We’ll use digital scanning 3D technology to take precise images of your teeth—no messy molds required! These scans are used to create a custom treatment plan, showing you a digital preview of how your teeth will move and how your smile will look after treatment.
Receiving Your Custom Aligners and Beginning Your Invisalign Treatment
Once your custom Invisalign aligners are ready, we’ll show you how to wear and care for them. You’ll receive a series of Invisalign trays, which you’ll need to wear for 2 weeks each (or more) for 22 hours a day, moving to the next set as your teeth gradually shift.
Progress Checkups
You’ll visit our Aurora dental office every couple of weeks to monitor your progress and pick up your next set of aligners. These check-ins help ensure everything is moving according to plan.
Enjoy Your New Smile!
Once treatment is complete, we’ll provide retainers to help maintain your newly straightened smile. These will need to be worn every night. We’ll also give you tips to keep your teeth healthy and aligned for years to come.

Who is a Good Candidate for Invisalign in Aurora?
Invisalign is a great option for adults, teens, and even some older children who want to straighten their teeth without the look of braces. You may be a good candidate if you have mild to moderate orthodontic issues and are committed to wearing the aligners at least 22 hours a day for optimal results.
If you have severe alignment issues or jaw problems, traditional braces or other orthodontic treatments might be recommended instead. During your consultation at ABN Family Dental, we’ll assess your needs and help you explore all your options.

How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take?
On average, the length of treatment can take anywhere from 12-18 months, depending on several factors. These factors include the complexity of the orthodontic issues being addressed, your age, wearing your aligners for the recommended 22 hours per day, and how closely you follow the treatment plan. For mild cases, such as minor crowding or spacing, treatment may be completed in as little as 6 months. During your consultation, we’ll assess your individual situation and provide a more accurate estimate of the expected treatment duration. Regular check-ins and adjustments throughout the process can also help ensure that you stay on track for a successful outcome.
